Trokido, the second-hand marketplace we built for Morocco

On Trokido people sell, buy, swap or give away used things, from a takchita to a cordless drill. The buyer pays cash once the item is in their hands. The seller pays no commission. TOURAK DIGITAL Maroc publishes the site and the app, and our team wrote every part of it, down to the admin panel.

Parcels and meet-ups on the same site

A takchita worn to one wedding, size 42 trainers or a PS4 with both controllers travel as parcels, by post or courier, and are paid for at the door. A car, a flat to rent, a job offer or a fridge stays put. Those are local listings, sorted by distance, and the deal is closed at a meeting. Both kinds share one search; the “with delivery” filter keeps only what can be shipped.

Swapping sits right next to buying. Every listing shows its setting: sale only, sale or swap, or swap only. The button to offer a swap is placed at the same level as the Buy button.

Trokido has only just opened. The listings you can see today are examples, and each one says so on the page.

Why a web agency built its own marketplace

Trokido is our product, not a client’s. TOURAK DIGITAL Maroc publishes trokido.com, owns the brand and signs the contracts with members whose account is in Morocco. The website, the Trokido app, the Trokido Livreur courier app and the admin panel were all written by our team. No part of it was outsourced.

The site sums up its mission in one line: put back into circulation what sits unused in wardrobes, from Maârif in Casablanca to Tevragh Zeina in Nouakchott. Doing that here meant starting from local habits. Cash payments. Arabic and French on equal terms. Budget Android phones, and data plans that run out before the end of the month.

  • Laravel 12 and PHP 8.3 on the server, and an Android app written in Flutter.
  • A lite mode that switches on by itself on a 2 GB Android phone or a 3G connection: smaller photos, paused videos, no animations.
  • Two typefaces weighing 87 KB together, and screens drawn for a 360-pixel width.
  • An Arabic interface with its own right-to-left mock-ups, written at the same time as the French one. Numbers stay in Western digits, as across the Maghreb.
  • No advertising trackers. Audience measurement runs on Matomo, hosted on our own servers and loaded only with the visitor’s consent.

We apply the same choices to client work, whether that is an online shop in Morocco or a mobile app.

Selling, buying, swapping and giving: what happens at each step

Sell

One photo is enough to publish, twenty at most, and the first becomes the thumbnail. From the title alone, Trokido suggests the category, the brand and the size. Listing is free and private sellers pay no commission. Once an order comes in, the shipping label is ready: you have 5 working days to send the parcel, and the courier hands you the price. Post a listing

Buy

Type “takchita 40” or “iPhone 12”, then sort by distance, price or newest. Under each price, one line shows the total with fees. Nothing is paid when you order: you pay the courier in cash when the parcel arrives, then have 48 hours to report a problem. In Trokido’s own worked example, a 600 MAD pushchair costs the buyer 622 MAD plus delivery.

Swap

You offer one of your items for the one you want, or up to five of yours for a single one. When values differ, a cash top-up balances the deal. A swap only exists once both people confirm it within 24 hours, and each side then has 48 hours to report a fault. Listings open to swaps

Give away

An item can also go for 0 MAD. Free listings have their own search filter: a cot the baby has outgrown, last year’s school books, a box of crockery. See free items

Delivery in town, transport between cities

In the cities where the service is open, independent couriers handle deliveries within the same city and keep 92.5% of each fare. For an item going from Tangier to Agadir, approved carriers post their routes: you book a space for your item, and the carrier sets the price and terms. Find an intercity route or listings with delivery

Shops and professionals

A shop can open a Pro space: a storefront with address, map and opening hours, free for up to 100 listings. Shop subscriptions then range from 49.5 to 295 MAD a month.

Trokido’s 17 categories

Each section of the site, what you will find there, a few sub-sections and a direct link to its listings. The full list of sub-categories is on the categories page.

The photos in this section come from the Unsplash and Pexels libraries. They show the kind of items each category holds; they are not Trokido listings.

Women: dresses, bags, shoes

This is where wardrobes get cleared out: maxi dresses, handbags, trainers, and evening kaftans worn once or twice. One photo is enough to publish. Add a shot of the back and one of the label, and buyers will have fewer questions. The title alone lets Trokido suggest size and brand.

Beige high-heeled court shoes in perforated leather on a white background
Court shoes shot on white. The shoe size goes in the title.

Men: shirts, jackets, shoes

Shirts, leather jackets, shoes and accessories, plus a separate grooming section. For a jacket, give sleeve length and chest in centimetres. A size M from one brand is not an M from another.

Four shirts, four colours: one photo can present a bundle.

Kids and baby

Pushchairs, baby carriers and car seats, girls’ and boys’ clothing, toys and games, plus a health and pregnancy section and one for feeding. Trokido chose a pushchair to spell out its fees: 600 MAD listed, 622 MAD paid at the door, delivery on top. Last year’s school bag and supplies have a section too, handy just before school starts again in September.

Home: kitchen, table, decor

Small kitchen appliances, baking tins, utensils, tableware, home textiles and decor. The spare teapot, the odd tea glasses, the beldi glassware cluttering the cupboard after a move: each has its section. Rugs, kilims and handmade pieces go under Crafts and traditional living.

Electronics: phones, consoles, computers

Phones, games consoles, computers, headphones and speakers, cameras. For a phone, put the storage size and battery health in the title, because that is what buyers type, “iPhone 12” for instance. They pay the courier on receipt and have 48 hours to report a fault.

Outfit rental for celebrations

A wedding dress, a takchita or a suit gets worn for one evening. This category lets you rent instead of buy: evening dresses, kaftans, tuxedos, jabador and gandoura for men, tiaras and veils. Henna, engagement and children’s ceremony outfits have their own sections too.

Tiaras, veils and bridal jewellery can be rented as well.

Weddings and ceremonies

People resell what they bought for the big day: bride’s and groom’s outfits, guest outfits, henna and khotba outfits, jewellery sets and mdammas belts, neggafa accessories. Eid and sbouâ have their own section. Photograph the embroidery up close and say whether the outfit has been altered.

Wholesale, bulk lots and clearance

Designer items

A section for signed pieces, for women and for men: watches, jewellery, bags, clothing. Put the designer or brand name at the very start of the title, before the model. A receipt or certificate you kept goes in the same photo as the item.

Books, music and video

Novels, school books, comics, magazines, vinyl records and films. One year’s textbooks can serve the next pupil: sold, swapped for the next grade’s books, or given away for 0 MAD. A book fits in a small parcel that goes by post.

Sports

Bikes, fitness and yoga, outdoor and water sports, team sports, racket sports, boxing, scooters. Dumbbells or a bike make a heavy parcel. For those, use the hand-over with a code, or a carrier’s route if the buyer lives in another city.

Vehicles and car parts

Cars, motorbikes and scooters, vans, car parts and accessories, motorbike gear. The whole category works as local listings: the buyer comes to see the vehicle, the sale is closed at the meeting and no money goes through Trokido. Put the year, mileage and city in the title.

The Android app

The app shows the same listings as the site and adds notifications: offer received, order accepted, parcel shipped. You photograph an item and list it without going through the gallery. It installs from an APK file, downloaded only from the official page. Trokido never sends installation files by message.

The iPhone version is not ready yet. Meanwhile the site works in Safari and can be added to the home screen.

What protects buyers and sellers

On Trokido, a phone number, an email address or a link to another messaging app is masked automatically, whether it appears in a listing or in a message. The exchange therefore stays on the platform, where the hand-over code and the 48-hour window apply. A WhatsApp message sent in Trokido’s name does not come from Trokido: the site does not use WhatsApp.

For a hand-over, the buyer only gives their 6-digit code after seeing and paying for the item; that code is the proof of sale. The “verified identity” badge appears only after a member of the team has checked the national ID card.

Where Trokido works

Morocco and Mauritania opened first, in French and Arabic, each with its own catalogue. France followed in October 2026 with a page of its own. A purchase is made and delivered in the account’s country, so a listing in Nouakchott cannot be bought from Rabat. In Morocco, TOURAK DIGITAL Maroc signs the contracts, prices are in dirhams and personal data falls under the CNDP (law 09-08).

Listings by city: Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakesh, Fez, Tangier, Agadir, Meknes, Oujda, Kenitra, Tetouan, Salé. In Mauritania: Nouakchott. The Casablanca second-hand guide lists the payment methods accepted in the city and what to check before paying.

Trokido FAQ

Is selling on Trokido free?

Yes for private sellers: listing costs nothing and no commission is taken on the sale. Fees are paid by the buyer on a shipped purchase: 2.5 MAD plus 2.5% of the price, capped at 75 MAD in Morocco, and 5 MAD for cash on delivery.

Do I need a bank card to buy?

No. At launch everything is paid in cash: to the courier for a parcel, to the seller for a hand-over.

How does swapping work?

You offer one or more of your items, five at most, for a listing that accepts swaps. A cash top-up can complete the deal. The swap only exists once both people confirm it within 24 hours.

Can I buy an item listed in Mauritania from Morocco?

No. A purchase is made and delivered within the same country, and each country has its own catalogue.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. The app is available for Android as an APK file from trokido.com/application. On iPhone, the site opens in Safari and can be added to the home screen.

Who is behind Trokido?

The TOURAK DIGITAL group. Its Moroccan company publishes trokido.com and the apps and signs with members whose account is in Morocco. The site and apps were developed by the Tourak Digital team.

How do I become a Trokido courier in Morocco?

You need to be 18, registered as a self-employed entrepreneur (ICE, IF) or in the trade register, with an ID card, a phone and a vehicle. Deliveries stay within one city and the courier keeps 92.5% of each fare.

Your first listing on Trokido

Listing costs a private seller nothing. A listing can be open to swaps from the moment it goes live, and the Android app flags every offer you receive.
